I fire up the Gaggia espresso machine to make myself a cappucino.

Having run the shot, I open the prohibition cabinet and grab the bottle of Isle of Jura to spike my coffee, it being a cold and grey day.

As I uncork the bottle, the skirl of the pipes comes from babylon5 in the other room as ddj cues up the Massed Bands, Pipes and Drums of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and the Black Watch, playing Morag of Dunvegan...

I decided to click on that link to DDJ, to find out more about it. There is one question I have that I didn't see an answer to:

Does it support songs already ripped with WMP or iTunes?

Not that I consider you the DDJ Tech Support line, but I thought that since you use it, you might know the answer.

I would have to answer "It depends", or "Sort of". DDJ is just a player front-end and a database. You can manually insert any music collection into the database, either by hand or with the mp3insert tool (which comes along with Grip, not with ddj, if memory serves), or one could even write a custom tool in, say, Perl, that would scan an existing music library, retrieve the id3 tags, and stuff the data into ddj's database. They don't have to be mp3 files; they could just as easily be .ogg, .wma, .flac, or whatever it is that iTunes uses (I don't remember). You can configure ddj to use any player that can be passed one song at a time on the command line. I even set it up to work with xmms once by having it "play" via a script that just saved ddj's selections to a file and saved the file as a playlist, then feeding that playlist to xmms, but I wasn't very happy with the result.

...For that matter, I suppose you could even stuff the databases full of images if you wanted to (most of the database fields would be empty of course), and have it "play" via a script that would change your desktop wallpaper then sleep for five minutes, to have a different-each-day random slideshow for your desktop.
